EC urges government to stop making statements affecting elections and peace and security

. KATHMANDU: The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has urged the political parties and candidates to stop the expressions of hatred before the upcoming elections to the House of Representatives scheduled for March 4.

Issuing a press release today, EC Spokesperson Tikaram Pokharel said that the responsible people of the political parties have been making indecent accusations and hateful statements in the last few days.TAG_OPEN_p_3

The NHRC has concluded that although the constitution and international human rights law guarantee freedom of expression, any expression that hurts the dignity of others and affects peace and security cannot be kept in the ambit of freedom.TAG_OPEN_p_2
