HPV vaccine begins in Kathmandu (Seven photos)

Kathmandu. KATHMANDU: The Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) has started administering the Human Papilloma Virus (HPV) vaccine against cervical cancer to girls and adolescent girls. Although the campaign was formally started on Sunday, it has started to be implemented in the metropolises of Kathmandu from today. Under the vaccination campaign, girls studying in class 6 and girls of 10 years of age who are not enrolled in school will be vaccinated this year. Girls between the ages of 11 and 12 studying in class 6 are also getting vaccinated.

The government had vaccinated around 1.7 million adolescent girls in the age group of 10 to 14 years across the country from February 5 to February 20 across the country. Girls aged between 11 and 14 years, who missed out last year, will be vaccinated this time. The government aims to vaccinate around 350,000 children with the HPV vaccine against cervical cancer this year.
