We will support RSP govt if constitution is amended for Hindu state: Kamal Thapa

Kathmandu. KATHMANDU: Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) leader Kamal Thapa has said that he would support the Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) and Balen Shah government if the government pledged to make Nepal a Hindu state through constitution amendment.

Writing a status on social media Facebook on Thursday, Thapa said that the government is two seats short of a two-thirds majority in the parliament.

He said that if the government was ready to amend the constitution to establish a Hindu state with religious freedom and equality, the five lawmakers of the RSP would have full support.

“If the proposed government makes a clear commitment to reinstate the Hindu state, the RPP will be ready to support the amendment bill in the parliament,” Thapa wrote. ’

The Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP), which has been raising voice in favour of monarchy and Hindu state in Nepal, has been demanding to reinstate Nepal as a Hindu state through constitution amendment.
