Kathmandu. The Supreme Court has scheduled the hearing of the writ petition filed against Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) Chairman Rabi Lamichhane on the charge sheet filed against him on the case of organized crime and money laundering.

A division bench of Justices Saranga Subedi and Sunil Kumar Pokharel has been conducting the hearing on Sunday.

Senior advocate Dinesh Tripathi, law student Yubaraj Poudel and lawmaker Yubaraj Poudel had filed a writ petition challenging the decision of Attorney General Sabita Bhandari to amend the case of corporate fraud and organized crime and money laundering against Lamichhane.

Attorney General Sabita Bhandari, through a seven-page long comment and order endorsed on January 12, had directed the District Government Attorney’s Office to file a case against Lamichhane only for cooperative fraud and to drop two other serious cases.

Though applications have been filed at the Kaski and Rupandehi district courts, the hearing of the cases is not yet taking place as the cases are sub-judice at the Supreme Court. However, the Government Attorney Offices of Kathmandu and Parsa have not filed applications at the District Court seeking amendment of the charge sheet against Lamichhane.
