RSP finalises names of 57 PR MPs

Kathmandu. KATHMANDU — The central secretariat meeting of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) has decided to submit the final list of candidates under the proportional representation system to the Election Commission.

The secretariat meeting held at the central office at Banasthali on Monday decided to provide the list of 57 candidates who can be nominated on the basis of the votes received by the party under the proportional representation system.

Talking to media persons after the meeting, party spokesperson Manish Jha said that there were two agendas of the meeting. He said that the decision has been made to submit the names of 57 candidates who can be nominated on the basis of the votes received by the Rastriya Samajwadi Party in the proportional representation list to the Election Commission within the stipulated time.

According to him, the list includes 17 people from Khas Arya, 16 from Janajatis, 8 Dalits, 3 Muslims, 9 Madhesis and 4 Tharus. The list includes 48 women and nine men.

“There were two agendas in the central secretariat meeting of the Rastriya Swatantra Party. We have decided to provide to the Election Commission the list of 57 candidates who can be nominated on the basis of the votes we received from the Rastriya Swatantra Party in the proportional representation list. We decided to submit the list of 57 people on behalf of the Rastriya Swatantra Party within the stipulated time frame today. Of them, 17 are from Khas Arya, 16 from indigenous nationalities, 8 Dalits, 3 Muslims, 9 Madhesis, 4 Tharu and 48 women and 9 men as per the law. ’

Spokesperson Jha said that the EC will complete the verification process after submitting the list of candidates to the Election Commission. “We will wait for the commission’s decision to make public the names until the EC approves them as part of the political and legal process,” he said. However, party President Rabi Lamichhane, who was absent from the meeting due to his health condition, joined the meeting virtually.
