Govt to cut salary for 2 to 10 days, Rs 360 million to be deposited in relief fund

Kathmandu. For the relief and rehabilitation of the flood-affected people, the salary of 2 to 10 days will be deducted according to the category of civil servants. The secretary-level meeting held today also decided to restrict the leave of the employees and foreign domestic travel.

The meeting also decided to deduct the salary of the federal government employees for a certain day from the salary scale of the month of August and deposit it in the ‘Prime Minister Natural Disaster Relief Fund’.

Gazetted Non-Gazetted (Naib Subba & Same): 5 days’ salary

It is estimated that about Rs 36 crore will be collected from the employees of the federal government alone. In addition, employees of the state, local level and other public bodies have also been called upon to contribute accordingly.

Strict rules have been issued for the administration of the employees to make disaster management and response effective. Employees have been instructed not to leave their work area and not to do ‘work’ except for essential work.

Seminars, seminars and trainings organized by inviting the employees of the state and local levels to the center have been stopped for the time being. Instructions have been given to compulsorily attend and work even on public holidays and to keep the service delivery smooth.

The meeting also directed the ministries concerned to resume essential services such as roads, bridges, drinking water, electricity and telecommunications.
