Speaker Aryal to leave for Tanzania and return to Kathmandu via Kenya on October 27

Kathmandu. Speaker Dol Prasad Aryal is leaving for Tanzania today. He is leaving for Tanzania to attend the 153rd General Assembly of the Inter-Legislative Union (IPU) to be held from October 3 to 23.

He is scheduled to leave for Tanzania via Doha on Qatar Airways flight QR645 at 7 pm on Sunday. The delegation includes Ambika KC, Rabin Mahato of the House of Representatives, members of the National Assembly, Jhakku Prasad Subedi and Anjan Shakya.

General Secretary of the Federal Parliament Padma Prasad Pandey, Secretary of the House of Representatives Prakash Adhikari, Joint Secretary of the Federal Parliament Secretariat Rekha Upadhyay Khanal and Personal Secretary of the Speaker Madhu Mijar are also in the delegation.

Speaker Aryal will deliver a General Debate on the theme “Enhancing Good Governance and Empowering Communities through Inclusion, Trust and Opportunities” at the AGM to be held in Arusha, Tanzania.

Also, ‘Urgent Parliamentary Action’ has been set as an emergency agenda.

The theme is “Strengthening Resilience to Climate-Related Disasters in the Himalayan Region and Other Vulnerable Regions”.

Nepal is preparing to submit a proposal on this issue.

Honorable Jhakku Prasad Subedi will participate in the Asian Parliamentary Assembly under the Inter-Parliamentary Union.

Anjan Shakya will participate in the Forum of Women Parliaments and co-report from the Asia Pacific region of the Standing Committee on Sustainable Development. Member of Parliament Rabin Mahato will participate in the Forum of Young Parliamentarians.

There will also be sideline meetings with delegations from various countries participating in the ANC.

General Secretary of the Federal Parliament Padma Prasad Pandey will make a presentation on the issues of parliamentary system, fund and capacity building in the meeting.

Speaker Aryal will be followed by Kenya to attend the 153rd General Assembly of the Inter-Legislative Union and related meetings.

Speaker of Kenya, Dr. Moses M. Accepting the invitation of Waitangula, the Nepali delegation is going to pay an official visit to the Kenyan Parliament.

The delegation is scheduled to return Kathmandu on October 11 following the Kenyan visit.
