India celebrates its 77th Republic Day today

Kathmandu. India is celebrating its 77th Republic Day today. President Droupadi Murmu will lead the main function to be held at Kartavya Path in New Delhi.

President of the European Council Antonio Costa and President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen will be the chief guests. The Kartavya Path, which stretches from the Rashtrapati Bhawan to the National War Memorial, depicts India’s Constitution, cultural diversity, military prowess and development journey.

The ceremony will begin at 10:30 a.m. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will pay homage to the martyrs at the National War Memorial before witnessing the parade. Spectacular tableaux of the Army, Navy and Air Force, advanced weapon systems, missiles, tanks, drone technology and indigenously developed defence equipment will be displayed during the parade. This year, for the first time, the Battle Array format of the Indian Army will be introduced.

Also, the awardees of Param Vir Chakra and Ashok Chakra will be honored. With the message of ‘Unity in Diversity’ and ‘Self-reliant India’, 30 floats will highlight India’s cultural heritage and progress.
