950 adolescent girls in Parbat to be vaccinated against HPV

Kathmandu. PARBAT: As many as 950 adolescent girls of Parbat district are to be immunized against cervical cancer under the Human Papillomavirus (HPV) vaccination campaign.

Badri TAG_OPEN_p_9 Raj Acharya, chief of the Province Public Health Office, Parbat, said that girls studying in grade six and girls of 10 years of age in 127 schools of 61 wards of the district would be vaccinated from February 11 to 12.

According to him, girls in grades 7 to 10 who missed out on the vaccine last year and girls in the age group of 11-14 years who are out of school will also be vaccinated.TAG_OPEN_p_8 A total of 127 health workers and 127 volunteers would be mobilized for the campaign.

Chief District Officer (CDO) Laxmi Prasad Poudel stressed the need of cooperation from all quarters to make the campaign a success.TAG_OPEN_p_7 He said the missing girls would be given one more week’s time.

Coordinator of the District Immunization Coordination Committee, Bishnuram BK, has said that the vaccines are completely safe and all should not be misunderstood.TAG_OPEN_p_6 Preparations are underway to conduct the vaccination campaign at all seven municipalities and ward levels of the district, according to the Province Public Health Office.

Last year, 4,7 TAG_OPEN_p_5 49 people were vaccinated against HPV in Parbat.
