Kathmandu. The price of bananas has increased due to the decrease in supply compared to the demand in the market. The government’s ban on the import of Indian bananas has affected the market price. According to consumers, the price of a dozen bananas has reached Rs 350 in the retail market. Some wholesale shops in Kuleshwor Fruit Market, which sell bananas in bulk, have been closed due to the shortage of bananas.
Dilip Raut, a fruit entrepreneur, said, “Local production is not enough to meet the demand. Some shops have had to be closed due to lack of bananas. We are in trouble. It’s hard to keep up with the expenses. Bananas must come from India.
