. Minister of Health and Population Dr. Sudha Sharma Gautam said that the health insurance board has put a huge financial burden on the state as it spent without ensuring the resources.
In his address to the 18th anniversary of Patan Academy of Health Sciences (KAHS) here today, Minister Gautam said that Rs 10 billion has been allocated for health insurance in the current fiscal year and the Insurance Board has spent Rs 24 billion annually.TAG_OPEN_p_7
Minister Gautam said, “The government does not bring money from trees, people pay for health services through tax.TAG_OPEN_p_6 It should be spent only within the budget. There is a problem in the system of providing as many services as we want without ensuring resources. ”
He added, “Now the Insurance Board should not spend without ensuring the source and without the consent of the Ministry of Finance.TAG_OPEN_p_5 In the beginning of this fiscal year, Rs 10 billion has already been spent. It is wrong to spend beyond the limits of the annual budget. ”
Stating that the constitution has guaranteed free health service as the fundamental right of the citizens and it is the responsibility of the local government to implement it, Minister Gautam urged the Insurance Board to ensure financial discipline and proper allocation of resources.TAG_OPEN_p_4
