Kathmandu. Demonstrations have taken place in Surkhet demanding an impartial investigation into the case of 16-year-old Inisha BK, who was found dead in a community forest.

The victim’s family and relatives staged a demonstration in Birendranagar chanting slogans such as ‘Stop rape, murder and violence against the girl’, ‘Give justice to Inisha’ and ‘Take action against the murderer’.

Relatives of Inisha had searched for her after she left home on Saturday morning and did not return home till late in the day. On the same day, she was found unconscious at Janajagaran Community Forest near Sahid Park in Birendranagar-4 at 9 am. Police have arrested a youth of Birendranagar-9 who was with him from the incident site.

Relatives of the deceased have been demanding action against the culprits and justice to the victim’s family. According to the District Police Office, Surkhet, police have arrested four more persons including Gauli for their alleged involvement in the incident.

According to the police, the medical report on whether Inisha was raped or not is awaited. Inasha, an 11th grader at Usha Balbatika School in Birendranagar-6, had left home on Saturday morning thinking it was an experiment. Inasha’s family had started searching for her after she left for home by 8 am but did not return till 9 am. After some time, Inisha’s mother said that she called from an unknown number and said that her daughter was in an unconscious state in the forest of Martyrs Park.

Inasha’s mother said that she also fainted after seeing Inisha’s bloodied body, her hair rolled, grass covered and shoes on one side and socks on the other. Relatives suspect that Inisha might have been murdered after being gang-raped. His relatives have lodged a complaint at District Police Office, Surkhet on March 9. According to DSP Mohan Jung Budhthapa of District Police Office, Surkhet, preliminary investigation suggests that Inisha died after being raped.

Police have arrested four persons in connection with the incident. All those arrested are minors under the age of 18, police said. Further investigation into the case is underway, police said. Saying that Inisha was murdered, the relatives have taken a stand that they will not understand everything until the culprits are punished.
