Kathmandu. Cricketer Karan KC has been arrested for his controversial status. The Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) has decided to ban him for one match and deduct his match fee.

KC could not play today’s match due to the ban. He was left out of the match between Nepal Police and Madhes today. Karan has been playing for the police team. The match fee for today’s match has also been deducted.

CAN believes that Karan’s statement is not in line with the spirit of the game. According to a press release issued by spokesperson Chhumbi Lama, he has been banned from one match of the Prime Minister Cup National Tournament and fined 100 percent of his match fee.

Karan had posted a threatening status on Facebook yesterday with a threat to the umpires. He asked how many matches will be banned if a player hits the umpire by mistake? Immediately after Karan’s status, the Cricket Umpires and Scorers Association held an emergency meeting and issued a statement expressing its objection.

Karan has already removed the status and apologized. However, Mohammed Shafiq, president of the umpires association, said an apology was not enough.

“This is a serious issue, an apology alone is not enough,” he said. I am confident that CAN will take necessary action. ’

CAN spokesperson Chhumbi Lama said that the Cricket Association is closely monitoring the misunderstanding between the players and the umpires in the last round. He also said that CAN’s attention has also been drawn to Karan’s status.

Lama said, “The decision was taken by the CAN technical committee based on the ICC Code of Conduct for Players, the Players’ Code of Conduct in the agreement with CAN and the report given by the match referee within the guidelines of the Prime Minister Cup.” ’
