“We have risen from every setback and will rise again”: General Secretary Pokharel

Kathmandu. CPN-UML General Secretary Shankar Pokhrel has said that the party would be established as the centre of people’s trust in the days to come.

Addressing a one-day orientation programme organized by the Karnali Province Committee of the CPN (UML) in Surkhet on Tuesday, General Secretary Pokharel stressed that people’s aspirations, needs and expectations should be understood as the people themselves protect the party whenever there is crisis.

According to him, a misunderstanding has arisen in some cases as the party’s policies and programmes have not been taken to the people in an effective manner.

“Turning despair into hope is the need of the hour,” he said, adding that the party should present its ideology, policy and programme more effectively to win the people’s trust. Pokharel said that the UML’s inability to connect youths with the party is one of the main reasons for the UML’s weakness. According to him, there was a need to strengthen the organization again by prioritizing youths’ participation and leadership development.

“We have risen from every setback and will rise again,” he said, adding, “UML has the capacity to turn difficult situation into opportunity and power.” He stressed the need to move ahead by making the party a trustworthy force of the people. ’

Karnali state leaders, cadres and representatives of different levels of the party were present on the occasion. On the occasion, discussions were held on the issues of organizational strengthening, ideology and future political line.
