Kathmandu. Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) lawmaker Gyanendra Shahi has criticized the government for not being effective in the rescue operation following the bus accident in Karnali.
Speaking at the meeting of the House of Representatives on Monday, lawmaker Shahi said that he saw the irresponsibility and failure of the government more than the accident in Karnali.
He said that the passengers were trapped in the middle of the river when the bus fell into the Karnali River on July 1 but the rescue operation could not be done in time.
“I have not seen an accident in Karnali today, I have seen the government’s irresponsibility and failure. In Karnali, a car fell into the river, people were trapped in the middle of the river, pleading for their lives. A man was stuck on a cliff and was struggling to survive. But their lives were over, and salvation did not come. ’
Shahi claimed that although the helicopter was seen in the sky at the time of the accident, it was not for rescue but for minister’s vehicle.
Stating that the rescue team lacked the required equipment, he said that the government’s failure to send a helicopter from Surkhet to the incident site for rescue was a serious failure.
“I called right away. The rescue team did not have the necessary equipment. The government did not even have the capacity to send a helicopter to go to the incident site from Surkhet. He asked.
Lawmaker Shahi accused the people of Karnali of being discriminated against and reminded that Karnali is also an integral part of Nepal.
