Kathmandu. Coordinator of the Communist Party of Nepal (CPN) Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has demanded the immediate release of Kishor Shrestha, the editor of Jana Aastha Weekly, saying he was arrested for writing a news report.
Prachanda has said that it is a mockery of democracy for the state to arrest Shrestha without following certain rules and procedures on the basis of writing the news.
“It is a mockery of democracy for the state to arrest Kishor Shrestha, editor of Nepal’s established newspaper Jana Aastha, without following the definite process and procedure,” he said.
He has also demanded the immediate release of Shrestha.
Prachanda has expressed his concern over the arrest and arrest of Shrestha by the state side in connection with the news publication. He also stressed the need to respect press freedom and freedom of expression and follow the legal process.
