Kathmandu. Police have warned that legal action will be taken against those misusing AI and digital technology to create fake photos and videos on social media, spreading misinformation and character assassination.
The Cyber Bureau of Nepal Police has warned that recent activities like creating artificial photos and videos of various people and organizations through social networks and digital platforms by misusing AI technology, publishing misleading information, disseminating audio-visual materials and expressions with the intention of character assassination have been taking place in recent times.
The police have warned that anyone creating fear in the society through such acts and character assassination will be punished severely as per the prevailing law. The Cyber Bureau has urged people to be especially aware of the activities on social media that fake photos and videos created using AI are real.
The bureau has also requested to get official information only from credible sources without immediately believing every topic found in online medium.
