Kathmandu. The Bir Hospital has decided to provide medicines to the patients suffering from chronic diseases only for one month by cutting off health insurance services. Earlier, patients used to get medicines for three months through insurance.

Director of the hospital, Dr. According to Dilip Sharma, the insurance board has not made the payment for a long time. The hospital owes more than Rs 40 crore through insurance.

Dr. Sharma said, “Patients will be affected if all services are closed as Bir is a hospital for the poor.” Now, we have reduced services a little bit to reduce financial liability. There is also a problem in buying medicines and making equipment as the government has not given money. It is difficult to manage the service. ”

The health insurance program is currently in dire straits. After not getting payment for a long time, big hospitals have started cutting service by setting deadlines. According to the Board, more than Rs 11 billion is yet to be paid to the empanelled health institutions till mid-July.

This has not only deprived the insured citizens of services but has also increased the risk of the health insurance program being left in limbo.
