Pakistani Ambassador calls on Chief Minister Pokharel

Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan to Nepal Syed Haider Shah called on Chief Minister of Gandaki Krishna Chandra Nepali Pokharel at the latter’s office on Friday. During the meeting, Chief Minister Pokharel said that the relationship between Nepal and Pakistan is strong at the people’s level and emphasized that bilateral cooperation in the fields of education, health and tourism should be further enhanced. Chief Minister Pokharel also expressed grief over the loss of life and property in the recent natural disaster including floods and landslides in Pakistan. Talking to the journalists after the meeting with Chief Minister Pokharel, Ambassador Shah said that he was thrilled over his first visit to Pokhara, as he had heard about the beauty of Pokhara. Ambassador Shah emphasized on the need to increase cooperation between the two countries on tourism, education, health, climate change and other issues. He also said that the scholarship quota for Nepali students going for higher education in Pakistan will be increased. Ambassador Shah said that climate change is causing a great impact in countries like Nepal and Pakistan, and joint initiative and cooperation are necessary to mitigate it.
